As much as we hate saying goodbye to summer, we do love fall fashion! Fall transition is such a fun time to play around with outfits! It’s that sweet spot where you can start layering, add some warmer tones, and mix in new textures while still hanging on to your favorite summer pieces! Here are 4 things we always do to ease into the season!
The Key Pieces Every Fall Transition Outfit Needs
1. Cardigans with Summer Outfits
First tip: start pulling out some fun short sleeve cardigans and wear them with your summery outfits! These are a big trend right now. We love layering a cardigan over shorts or a bright white outfit so you can keep that summer vibe going but also signal that fall is near! Plus, they’re perfect if it’s starting to get a little chilly in the evenings!
Both of our cardigans are from Amazon! Such a great price and surprisingly good material. We paired them with trusty white pants from Zara and black shorts from Abercrombie (sadly sold out!). We felt so cute when we went into town, we had to grab some pics!
2. Warmer Tones with White Jeans
We’re not putting the white jeans away just yet! The trick for fall is to start pairing them with warmer tones! We love this Farm Rio top for early fall because it’s breezy and fun, but has those richer brown tones that instantly feel more seasonal! Plus, you all loved this print as a dress during the Nordstrom sale!!
We styled it with The Candle High Waist Barrel Jeans by FRAME. They’re the perfect off-white for fall and winter! We added washable ballet flats from Rothy’s (amazing for the teacher in your life!) and a neutral tote! This would be such a great outfit for dinner out!
3. Switch to a Darker Bag
Even if your outfit is still light and bright, a darker bag instantly brings in that fall feeling! We usually make the switch around mid September!
This look features our favorite boxy cardigan from Open Edit (was LOVED during the Nordstrom Sale!), jeans from Mother, and brown sunnies from AIRE that are only $50! We finished the outfit with our trusty Adidas Sambas because they just work with everything!
4. Try a Seasonal Trend
Some people skip trends for a capsule wardrobe, but you all know we love a trend! This year we’re seeing two that are perfect for the transition into fall: clogs and short sleeve cardigans!
Like our first outfit, short sleeve cardigans are great for this time of year because they give off fall vibes without making you too hot! We’re loving this blue one from Treasure & Bond (our go-to brand for cardigans right now!) for the end of summer! Clogs are our new obsession because they’re chunky, fun, and keep your feet warm! These clogs are super cute from Kelsi Dagger Brooklyn.
We styled these with Madewell dark wash jeans to balance the blue, added some gold jewelry, and carried a Longchamp bag which you all have been loving lately!
Fall transition outfits are all about mixing the best of summer with the coziness of fall! Whether it’s layering a cardigan over shorts, pairing white jeans with warmer tones, or trying out a seasonal trend, it’s such a fun way to freshen up your wardrobe!
