This summer my husband and I went on a week-long tour of Ireland! Since it was a shorter trip, I was determined to pack in a carry-on. I love planning stylish vacation outfits, but this trip posed some fashion challenges!
Our weather forecast was quite mixed, with clouds, sun, possible rain and temperatures in the upper 60’s to low 70’s. Being from the Seattle area, I’m pretty familiar with this weather and the outfits that go with it! Packing layers was key, as well as outfits that leaned toward both colder weather and hotter weather. In reality our weather was much warmer than expected, so I was thankful I threw in a few summery looks last minute!
Ireland Travel Outfits: What I Wore and How I Packed Smart
My Ireland travel outfit & Essentials
My travel outfit was perfect for my eight hour flight to Ireland! Julie and I love our Spanx Air Essentials sets for travel. The top and bottom can be styled separately, and the material couldn’t be more comfortable! This Quince cross body bag arrived just in time for my trip! I love the neutral color (it matches my travel set perfectly!), and it was cute as a shoulder bag, and worn crossbody. It held all my essentials, and it felt safe against the threat of possible pickpocketers.
I also wore my Paul Green sneakers on a tour of Greece last year, so I knew they would be comfortable in Ireland! Slipping in Super Feet insoles for added support really helped. Packing in a carry on is doable for me with packing cubes, and any overflow goes in my neck pillow! Yes, this amazing neck pillow unzips to hold quite a few clothing items! Mine contained a dress, my travel wrap, a blouse and all my underwear! Genius!
The Perfect Jacket for Ireland
Our tour kicked off with a trip to the Cliffs of Moher where it was very windy with a few rain showers. I knew before the trip that I had to have a stylish, lightweight jacket with a functional hood.
This jacket was perfect! I love the stylish details, the length, and the fact that the hood is a bit oversized so it protects my face. This jacket has already become a Lastseenwearing best seller! I’m going to get so much use out of it at home, too!
Now For the Ireland travel outfits!
Most of the people on our tour looked like they stepped right out of an REI catalog! This is fine, of course, but I love to elevate my travel outfits. These looks I put together made me feel stylish on vacation while still being comfortable and functional. It’s definitely doable!
Cropped Pants with Bomber Jacket
We started out in Ennis, Ireland, where it was actually cooler weather. I chose my Colette cropped pants because they are a lightweight material that can be dressed up or down. I paired them with a dark floral shirt, my black linen bomber (a great layer that goes with lots of outfits), and my black Dolce Vita sandals.
The only other bag I brought was this one from Portland Leather to accessorize with my black shoe looks. It also stylishly held all my essentials!
Pink Pants with White Blouse
The next day we had very warm weather in Dingle, Ireland! I wore my pink Colette pants (you seriously can’t have enough pairs of these pants! They come in so many colors and have the best fit!), my pretty white Sezane blouse, the Quince cross body and my Mephisto Helen sandals.
This was my fourth European vacation with these same metallic Mephisto sandals! They are my go-to travel sandals. They go with shorts, pants, skirts and dresses, and they couldn’t be more comfortable. I think I’ll invest in a new pair for my next trip!
White Linen Set
For dinner out, I packed this white linen set. It’s perfect for travel because you can style the pieces separately, and it can be worn with a sneaker or flat sandal for day, or a heel or elevated shoe for evening.
I’ve learned that with all the walking on vacation, even my dressier shoes have to be flats. It’s a new reality for me, but that’s ok! There are so many cute flat sandals to choose from, and they are much easier to pack. This thin yellow cardigan was the perfect layer as the temperatures cooled!
Tank and Denim Jorts
The next day involved a bus tour on Slea Head Drive, and then a Falconly Experience! What to wear?? It was a warm day, so I went with the white tank from my matching set, a neutral cardigan, my denim jorts and Mephistos.
Spanx Skort with Denim Jacket
I was so thankful that I threw in this Spanx skort last minute before I left! I really needed it for the warmer temperatures. It’s cute and sporty with my same Paul Green sneakers, a denim jacket and my neutral cross body bag.
The layers I packed for Ireland were cardigans, my rain jacket, my black bomber jacket and this denim jacket. All of these were strategically packed to coordinate with my outfits and keep me warm when needed! They did not disappoint!
Dress for Day to Night
When I went to Italy and Greece in the past, I packed mostly dresses! Dresses seemed to fit the vibe of these countries, plus it was very hot when we visited. For Ireland, my looks were more casual, but I did pack this Sezane sundress! This dress has been my favorite dress of the season. I wore it casually for day with sneakers, and then I dressed it up a bit with my black linen bomber and black sandals for going out to see Riverdance! Julie has this dress in black, as well, and loves it!
Olive Pants and White Muscle Tee
For our last day of touring Ireland, I re-wore my olive Colette pants and Mephisto sandals, and added an off white muscle tee and a neck scarf! Adding a scarf is so easy, and it elevates your casual look! While wearing this look at the Guinness Factory Experience I was actually stopped by a Lastseenwearing follower! Such a highlight!!
Hope you loved my Ireland travel outfits! Overall, I was pleased with what I packed. It definitely helped me to go through our itinerary and look at the weather forecast for each day to help plan my outfits. The weather kind of threw me for a loop, so I didn’t wear my jeans and a few other clothing items for colder weather. That was ok, though, because I planned for different weather scenarios! Traveling to Ireland was a wonderful experience! I hope this helps you when planning what to pack for Ireland or wherever your travels take you!
