Summer is almost here, and if your schedule is anything like ours, it’s already packed with family gatherings, weddings, weekend trips, and maybe even a vacation or two!! With so much going on, figuring out what to wear as summer trip outfits can start to feel like just another item on the to-do list, but it doesn’t have to be!
We love a good long weekend getaway, and after one too many last-minute packing sessions, we’ve figured out a system that works: plan a few key outfits ahead of time that can mix, match, and cover all the bases. That way, you spend less time standing in front of your suitcase and more time actually enjoying your trip!!
So if you’re looking for a little inspiration, we’ve pulled together 5 easy, cute looks that will take you through 3 days of summer plans. These are pieces you can rewear, restyle, and rely on to feel confident and comfortable all weekend long!
Day 1: Travel In Style
We know how easy it is to throw on leggings and a T-shirt for travel, but this summer, we’re challenging ourselves to travel in something a little more put-together!! It doesn’t have to be fancy, just something that makes you feel cute and confident. It really does make a difference in how you feel throughout the day, and you’ll show up looking more polished with basically the same amount of effort!
For this outfit, I (Krista) am wearing the Linen Blend Strappy Vest Top from LOFT with their Belted Patch Pocket Shorts in a beachy brown shade. I added my Birkenstock Arizona Soft Footbed Sandals in Metallic Copper – super comfortable for travel days!
Julie is wearing the Daisy Crochet Tank Top from LOFT (crochet is everywhere right now), paired with the Peyton Linen Shorts and a gold metallic ankle wrap sandal. Easy, comfortable, and a definite upgrade from sweats!!
Day 2: Daytime Sightseeing
When you’re out exploring during the day, whether it’s a city or beach town, you want your summer trip outfits to look cute but stay comfortable! For us, that usually means reaching for an easy dress or a flowy skirt paired with comfy sandals. It keeps things simple but still pulled together for whatever the day brings.
I’m wearing this red and white striped dress from LOFT with a knot detail at the waist. It’s lightweight, flattering, and so easy to throw on! I added a straw bag from Mango and ankle wrap sandals in a neutral color.
Julie is wearing the LOFT Versa Strapless Mixed Media Maxi Dress. It looks like a two-piece set but it’s actually a one-piece dress – so effortlessly chic!!! Super versatile and honestly nice enough for a rehearsal dinner or casual wedding. She paired it with a straw bag from Sézane that she’s been using nonstop this season, and black Sam Edelman sandals that she can walk in all day.
Night 2: Reservations Only
For night two of a long weekend, we always like to plan one dressier outfit! It’s fun to get a little more dressed up, even if the vibe is still relaxed. Whether you’re headed to a nice restaurant or grabbing drinks by the water, a polished look can make the evening feel extra special!!
Julie is rewearing the LOFT crochet tank from Day 1 but styled it differently with the LOFT Palm Linen Blend Mini Wrap Skirt. We LOVE the tropical pattern on this one, it’s so perfect for a beachy weekend! She added simple white Dolce Vita sandals (this style has been everywhere lately).
I’m wearing a cute navy dress from LOFT, which is easy to dress up with accessories but still super comfortable.
Day 3: Shop & Stroll
Day 3 is usually our slow morning, grabbing coffee, wandering through shops, and squeezing in a little more exploring before heading home! For that, we like to keep our summer trip outfits simple with something breezy, comfy, and still cute enough for any last-minute photo ops. :)
We’re both in LOFT dresses for this one. I’m wearing the Chambray Seamed Mini Dress, which has a denim look without the weight, perfect for warm mornings. Julie is in the Jersey Seamed Mini Dress, and the color on this one is so good in person!! I threw on my Birkenstocks again, since they go with everything, and Julie paired hers with some simple cognac sandals from Target. Easy, comfortable, and just the right vibe for a laid-back finish to the weekend!
Night 3: Dinner With A View
For our last outfit, we like to rewear something from earlier in the weekend but dress it up for dinner with heels and accessories!! Usually, we pick the travel outfit since it often only gets seen at the airport!
It’s easy to take that same look and elevate it with some simple heeled sandals and a sparkly bag. I’m wearing gold heels from Dolce Vita, and Julie is in her all-time favorite Schutz clear heeled sandals. It’s the perfect way to wrap up a fun weekend away without overpacking!!
