How To Style Spring Transition Outfits

Spring has (finally!) sprung here in Seattle, and while it’s only in the mid-50s, we’re calling it a win! The cherry blossoms are blooming, spring fashion is trickling in, and honestly, we’re feeling like brand-new people!!

We just kicked off a fun new series on IG all about styling spring transition outfits, and now we’re bringing it to the blog for a deeper dive!

Here’s what makes a great spring transition look, aka “springy but warm”, especially if you’re in the northern half of the country like we are:

  • A cute jacket for those chilly mornings and evenings.
  • Lighter, neutral shoes and accessories.
  • Layers in soft spring hues that make it feel like the season is changing, even if the weather hasn’t caught up yet!!

Check out how we pulled it all together in the outfits below!

The Power Of Shoes + Jackets

Love love love these outfits! We loved playing around with pattern, texture, and layers here.

Our biggest takeaway: When putting together your spring transition outfits, don’t underestimate the power of your shoes and jacket. They’re key to pulling off that effortless spring vibe!

Krista’s light brown boots are not only super comfy but also a great way to lighten up your look while staying weather-appropriate. Her super cute trench is on-trend, super versatile, and under $80! If you’re building a spring wardrobe, a classic trench coat and a good chore jacket are two styles you’ll reach for again and again.

I’m wearing a denim chore jacket that comes in multiple colors, and my leopard flats are the perfect way to add a little pop of pattern to any outfit. These jeans from J. Crew are super comfortable and wide-legged. Plus they’re low rise if you’re not a fan of the high-rise trend!

And don’t forget to swap out your everyday bag with something lighter

Same Top Styled Two Ways

We thought it would be fun to style the same top two ways as part of this series! This cardigan from Sezane is soft, stylish, and comes in a rainbow of colors!

Our biggest takeaway: Spring transition outfits don’t have to be complicated! Once you find your favorite cozy lightweight sweater, pair it with jeans and a jacket and you’re set! Just make sure every layer can stand on its own as temps rise and fall throughout the day.

For jeans, we’re both wearing tried-and-true faves. I am wearing wide-leg jeans from Target (which are a total steal at under $30), and Krista’s cropped pair from Anthropologie – an investment but truly will never go out of style!

For shoes, we sway toward lighter tones or ones that show a little bit of skin during the spring transitional months. Loafers and chunky sandals are super on-trend and give your outfit a fresh, modern vibe. My loafers from Zara are great for any season, and Krista’s Dolce Vita sandals are super comfy!

A blazer or lightweight jacket layered over your sweater adds warmth and polish, while accessories like a belt, fun jewelry, a chic bag, or sunnies bring it all together.

All The Spring Colors

We’re feeling all the spring vibes in these outfits!

Our biggest takeaway: When in doubt, pair a cream sweater with some fun springy pants! This is our go-to combo when we’re trying to run out the door. Add some easy accessories and it’ll look like you’ve been curating this outfit for weeks! 😂

I’m wearing some fun blue Maeve Collette Pants from Anthropologie and paired them with a classic collar cardigan from Sezane. I love adding a bandana to more “simple” outfits for some flair!

Krista is channeling spring energy with this Amazon sweater and another pair of Collette Pants. They’re the best! This sweater would also look super cute over a dress.

Some neutral shoes and bags and you’re out the door in style!

Warm Top + Sandals

These outfits are great for a spring party or night out!

Our biggest takeaway: If you’re in the mood to wear heeled sandals, try balancing them with a warmer top or jacket. It’s the perfect way to dress things up while still staying cozy on those breezy spring days!

We’re both wearing the amazing Meave Collette pants from Anthropologie again here – an outfit staple!

Krista’s Collette pants  have awesome white stitching which adds a ton of visual interest! We also love that off-the-shoulder tops/dresses are BACK! This tan sweater from Abercrombie is super cute and flattering. This is sold out but we linked something similar!

I’m wearing the pastel yellow Colette pants, which are such a fun spring color, and paired them with a white and blue floral top for a little extra flair. I threw on my favorite denim lady jacket from J Crew to finish it off. This would totally work for a spring baby shower or just a cute weekend look!

We hope you’re loving these spring transition outfits as much as we do! 🌸 Let us know how you’re styling your spring pieces this season – what you’re loving, what you’re shopping for, and what staples you’re reaching for again and again. We always love hearing from you!
