As much as we loved last year’s red trend, we felt the need to keep it subtle, whereas this year’s deeper, richer tone of burgundy has us jumping all in! There’s something more refined and elegant about burgundy. It spans the seasonal shift from fall to winter so well, without going too much into holiday territory. Brown

We’ve missed you brown!! Sure, it’s made an appearance here and there over the years, but from our recollection it’s been almost two decades since there’s been such a strong resurgence of brown tones! I (Julie) remember the timeline clearly because I can date it from buying my first Coach bag, which was the most gorgeous color of brown! I still have it, btw, and am thinking it’s finally time to bring that baby out of the archives. On our wishlist: the brown coat, brown boots, brown suede bags linked above ^.

Not everyone loves the barrel jean trend, but we truly feel there is a barrel jean for every BODY, hence why it made our “accessible” trend list! Barrel jeans make a statement so it’s up to you to choose your level of drama. We fall somewhere in the middle, preferring a slimmer, less exaggerated leg. The pairs we’re wearing play it safe and work well with both casual and dressy shoes, but a cool girl would wear a funky wider leg barrel with a strappy heel for date night. With brown tones trending, suede is a no-brainer. It’s always fascinating though, to see what form a trend will take. A few years back, slim-fitting suede moto jackets and suede ankle booties were the look, but this go-around the silhouettes are oversized and the boot design has morphed to work with wide legs vs. skinny jeans. The perfect way to add a little edge to your outfit! The texture and shine of a stud detail can transform an otherwise simple neutral outfit to something so interesting and cool. Did leopard ever go out? Maybe for a minute, but now it’s roaring back bigger than ever! Fashion is so funny. It’s like we’re seeing leopard print for the first time, and we kind of are, because it’s the first time we’re seeing it on the baggy leg, the tie-front blouse, and the Mary Jane–all recent trends that on second thought, maybe should’ve been added to this list. Ok this one is just plain fun! Cute charms aren’t just for bracelets and little girls, we love this idea of adding a little statement to your biggest accessory that also makes a statement about you! It’s a great high-low hack too…buy a designer charm instead of a designer bag for a nod to style without the price tag! On our wishlist: the charm and bag above ^.

Since publishing this, we’ve noticed a few more looks taking off! Longline coats are huge, especially when belted or worn with slouchy trousers. Sweater dresses are also making a comeback, but with chunky boots instead of sleek ones for a more casual vibe. Metallic accents are everywhere—from silver handbags to shimmery knits—and they surprisingly work well with cozy fall textures like wool and cashmere. Another styling tip? Try mixing soft neutrals like oatmeal and camel with a pop of burgundy or leopard to nail that effortless, polished look. Layering with scarves, vests, and even fingerless gloves is another easy update.
